Let’s Build this Trail Together!  Click Here

This is so exciting! The Vine Trail is enjoyed daily by young and old alike and continues to be a labor of love for many. It is wonderful to see families, tourists, and lots of furry pets walking with their owners and enjoying the meandering pathway. I personally use the Vine Trail weekly for my runs and cycling adventures.

I have begun my quest to raise money for the building of the remainder of this trail. My personal goal is to complete 470 miles cycling, and 47 miles running.

Just this Saturday, I rode 50 miles and then on Sunday I ran 5 miles. So, I have just 420/42 left in the month of May!

My personal goal for May! Cycling and Running to raise money for the Vine Trail.

The Vine Trail Coalition in the Napa Valley is getting close to completing the amazing 47-mile cycling, running, and walking trail connecting the whole valley for safe and beautiful fun! This path is designed to provide locals and visitors with a wonderful pathway from the north end of the valley in Calistoga all the way to the ferry terminal in Vallejo! Please donate to this iconic effort!

My Personal Goal?

In addition to trying to stay healthy and enjoy some fitness workouts on the weekends, I get to do something meaningful that will benefit others. Giving back to the community always feels good. Some may say that my goal of  $4,747.47 is flying high, but all I can say is that sometimes when you shoot for the moon - it happens!  How did I choose this amount? I wanted to play with all of the 4000's, 747, 47, and 470's. Curious? Read on.

As I mentioned, to raise money for the Vine Trail, I am committing to complete the 470-mile cycling challenge in May 2021, along with completing a 47-mile running challenge. I am doing this to inspire you to donate to this very worthy cause. I will also ride and run to honor our friend, Doug, who will be cheering us on as he recovers from a setback, and reclaims his leadership role within our cycling team, the Clydesdales.

Olympic Team

Doug Burnett (The Flugger) is a former Olympian Cyclist and a retired Air Force Pilot who later flew 747's for United Airlines

Doug rode in the road team, and competed in a 4000-meter road team pursuit in a World Championship in Frankfurt, Germany in 1966. In Mexico City, in 1967, Doug rode in an Olympic Team altitude test followed by riding as an Alternate in the 1968 Olympics 4000-meter individual pursuit. Doug planned, led, and has cared for us Clydesdales for our Friday Rides for years and gathered the group for innumerable Lost Friday Lunches as we gathered with our comrades.

In addition to honoring our friend, Team Clydesdales: Fluggers Flyers will raise as much money as we can for The Vine Trail which will be used by individuals, friends and families for years to come.
