Our daughter Lexi was diagnosed with a type of dyslexia (auditory processing disorder) in second grade. At the time we were encouraged to seek a tutor to address her limitations in reading and other deficits (sequencing, sound comprehension, etc.).Laura completed a thorough evaluation with Lexi and then formulated a plan for intervention and long story short, Lexi is now a freshman at an exclusive liberal arts college on the east coast studying English/Literature. She has been a voracious reader and writer since she learned to sound out words from Laura (rather than sight reading.) She was in AP English and History in high school and found those to be her favorite classes.

We had her reevaluated the summer before high school by a neuro psychologist who picked up on some of her sequencing issues but mentioned that her auditory processing issues were sufficiently corrected because they did not show up on extensive testing. As important as her rewiring gains, Lexi loved going to her sessions with Laura. She still speaks fondly of their visits and as a parent I really appreciated the ease with which Laura guided Lexi through their lessons. I cannot remember a day that Lexi hesitated to go to Laura’s and as I recall, she went several days a week throughout the summer.

“Laura’s influence, guidance, and teachings provided him with the tools and self-confidence to take control of his academic progress. “

Chris and Megan Pacheco – Napa

Our son began lessons with Laura Masters during the 4th grade. He struggled with school due to his dyslexia. After starting tutoring sessions with Laura, the results quickly became apparent.  Since working with Laura he has excelled at school, making the honor roll each semester during middle school.  He is undoubtedly better prepared for the challenges of high school and beyond due to Laura’s support.

After the success with our son, we sent our daughter to Laura as well.  Laura provides a warm, kind, and comfortable learning environment catered to our daughter, allowing her to remain on course with her English and math comprehension while in Spanish Immersion. Laura has been so influential to our daughter that when provided the opportunity to stop going, she confidently stated she wanted to continue because “she makes me understand things easier and I like the way she makes me think.”

We can say without a doubt that Laura Masters has had a positive impact on both of our children that will last a lifetime. She has not only provided them with educational benefits but lessons they will carry on through all aspects of their lives. She is genuinely one of the kindest and most caring people you will ever come across and those feelings are translated through her work directly to the children. As a parent, you know that she cares about your children, their education and growth, and their well-being as much as you do. We cannot say enough about the positive experience we have had with Laura Masters and know she has enriched our children’s lives in a positive manner.

“As a struggling student, Laura not only provided me with the skills to succeed in my education, she also continually built up my confidence in myself. “

Jessica Neely - Napa, Student now Teacher!

“After working closely with Laura for several years, I saw improvement in my grades, my engagement, and my participation. Today, I am a first year teacher helping to shape young minds as well. I find myself continually using the same tips and tricks Laura provided me, in my own classroom. The multiplication tables set to different songs, expansion of sentences to include more details, and many of the educational games she taught me, are now favorites with my students as well. I would highly recommend working with Laura and am confident she can help any student achieve their full potential. I personally credit Laura as part of the support system that led me to my own success

“Laura is amazing! I would never be where I am today without her”

— Grandson of Bonnie and Robert Aguilar - Napa

In his words: “She helped me understand the structure of an essay and good narrative, provide creative ideas and think outside the box. I am super-confident with my writing and I do not need assistance from others.”

Laura gave our children something far greater than the skills necessary for success in their classes. She filled them with the confidence to see themselves as mathematicians, writers, readers and scholars.
